Findings revealed after Tarkett publishes Sustainability Statement

Flooring manufacturer Tarkett has released its latest Sustainability Statement, detailing significant progress in circular-economy initiatives and decarbonisation in 2025.

Its sustainability policies have been audited under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Tarkett has achieved a 27% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions as it transitions to renewable energy. Currently, 43% of its energy use comes from renewable sources, with 16 of its global manufacturing plants using 100% renewable energy.

Since 2018, the company has doubled its use of recycled materials. On average, 20% of the materials in its product range are recycled, with this percentage set to rise to 30% by 2030.

In North America, Tarkett’s commercial carpet tiles combine low-carbon nylon with 100% recycled content.

The Tarkett “ReStart” programme takes back used flooring and now operates in 29 countries. Over the programme’s 16 years, 129,000 tonnes of worn flooring have been diverted from landfills to recycling centres that extract materials for reuse.

Tarkett CEO Fabrice Barthélemy says that substantial progress has been made in the company’s sustainable practices, but more is urgently required to address climate change. He said:

“We are actively working with our clients and suppliers to lead our industry in pursuing this journey.”

Tarkett has also announced progress in advancing its diversity goals. Women hold 29% of its management positions, and Tarkett aims to increase this to 33% by 2030.
